HOLLYWOOD, CA – Thursday, July 2, 2015 – Matthew Mancinelli’s movie studio Mance Media has bought North America rights to the political documentary IMMINENT THREAT from Academy Award nominee James Cromwell, set for a September 4th, 2015 limited theatrical and VOD release.
The documentary marks the directing debut of Janek Ambros, who has previously produced films including “Ten Thousand Saints”, the 80’s NY drama starring Ethan Hawke, Hailee Steinfeld and Asa Butterfield, which premiered at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival.
The feature doc tackles the War on Terror's impact on civil liberties and the strange coalition it's creating between the progressive left and libertarian right. The doc examines the NSA, drones, the war on journalism and other encroachments on civil liberties started by the Bush era and expanded by the Democratic establishment.
Logline: A look at the War on Terror and the threat it's causing to our civil liberties and political discourse.
Featuring interviews with President Barack Obama, Edward Snowden, George W. Bush, Hilary Rodham Clinton, Joe Biden, Dick Cheney, Nancy Pelosi and Julian Assange.
James Crowell serves as Executive Producer.
Production company: Assembly Line Entertainment
“My company's goal to make cutting edge films that provoke the audience, and civil liberties and free speech are at the core of that. We're really happy to work with Mance to get these ideas out there and help continue the conversation of the balance between security and liberty as well as pointing out these issues aren't as simple as democrat vs republican,” says director Janek Ambros
“Imminent Threat is a topical political doc a la Citizenfour, discussing the impact of drones and NSA surveillance post 9/11 – a conversation that is also the basis of the recently released Ethan Hawke/Zoë Kravitz starrer ‘Good Kill’ movie,” says Mance Media’s CEO, Matthew Mancinelli. “Mance Media looks forward to getting this out to the American public and working with Janek and team.
The deal was negotiated by Anthony A. LoPresti of LoPresti & O'Reilly, LLP on behalf of the filmmakers and Matthew Mancinelli on behalf of Mance Media.
